
On 13 March 2024, the National Children's Technopark EE hosted a meeting of the Republican Commission for the consideration of candidates nominated for grants of the President of the Republic of Belarus in the spheres of science, education, healthcare, culture, and youth policy. The purpose of the event was to hear the reports on the results of scientific research and innovation projects for which the Presidential grants were awarded in 2023.
The Republican Commission was composed of high-ranking officials and heads of ministries and departments of the country, including the chief doctor of the State Institution "Republican Clinical Medical Centre" Abelskaya I.S. The meeting was held by Deputy Prime Minister Petrishenko I.V.
As part of the event, a presentation exhibition of the projects that received grant support was organised. Our institution was represented at the exhibition and the commission meeting by doctors Kachanko Elena (infectious diseases doctor, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Head of the Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology Department) and Zanovsky Alexander (urologist).
Ten grants of the President of the Republic of Belarus were implemented in the sphere of education in 2023. Among the grant recipients are 5 doctors of science and 5 candidates of science. Among them, doctor of RKMC Kachanko E.F., Candidate of Medical Sciences.
Kachanko E.F. presented the results of implementation in the educational process of the training and methodological complex "Infection control system in wards of a multidisciplinary specialised hospital. Algorithms of multidrug-resistant microorganisms control". This complex, which includes a textbook, advanced training programme and methodological recommendations, allows to improve the quality of training of healthcare professionals in the field of infection control.
Development and introduction of the new for the Republic of Belarus educational-methodical complex into the educational process will allow to improve the quality of the educational process at the level of additional education of adults, to improve the scientific and methodological support of the educational process, to introduce the results of the latest scientific research into the educational process in the implementation of the educational programme of advanced training of doctors-specialists, as well as nursing staff.
In general, the introduction of this educational and methodological complex in the educational process will further improve the quality of medical care for patients with nosocomial infections, will contribute to reducing the prevalence of infections associated with the provision of medical care in the hospital, which in turn will improve the level of diagnosis and treatment of patients, reduce the duration of hospitalisation, and thus the costs of the national budget for treatment and further rehabilitation of such patients.
The novelty and relevance of the publication for the Republic of Belarus dictates the necessity of its use in the educational process of medical workers. This is the first educational and methodological manual of its kind for the country, dedicated to the modern methodology of practical training of medical personnel on infection control in a multidisciplinary hospital, which was noted by the reviewers.
In the field of health care for 2023, grants were awarded to 11 managers and specialists of health care organisations and were used for the implementation of scientific research and innovative projects, including in the field of urology.
A.O. Zanovsky, the recipient of this grant, a urologist of the State Institution RKMC, has developed and introduced into practical healthcare a new method of percutaneous multi-access with the position of the patient on the back in the treatment of urolithiasis, which will contribute to the reduction of the total radiation exposure, duration of surgical time, reduction of economic costs for the treatment of patients with this pathology by reducing the length of stay in hospital.
The work of the exhibition and meetings of the Commission were widely covered in the press. During the event, the participants were able to exchange views and discuss prospects for further co-operation. The exhibition and the commission meeting became a significant event for the development of Belarusian science, education and healthcare.
