On April 22, the Republican Clinical Medical Center of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Belarus hosted the grand opening of two exhibitions dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The initiator and organizer of the event was Irina Stepanovna Abelskaya, chief physician of the RCMC, senator, deputy chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic on Education, Science, Culture and Social Development. In her address she emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the feat of the people:
"Memory is the main thing that we must never lose. It is not necessary for the dead, it is necessary for the living".
The main exposition was the exhibition "We Remember! We are proud!" exhibition, dedicated to the medics - participants of the Great Patriotic War. The presented materials reveal personal stories of doctors, nurses, paramedics and administrative workers who contributed to the victory. To date, 47 biographies have been collected, 15 of which formed the basis of the exposition. These materials will form the basis of the museum of the history of the medical center.
One of the stories told by Irina Stepanovna Abelskaya is dedicated to Konstantin Stepanovich Sheleg, a military doctor, a participant of the liberation of Minsk and Poland, a veteran of medical service, who worked for many years in the system of the Ministry of Health of the BSSR.
The second part of the exposition - the exhibition “We are bequeathed to protect the world” - is a collection of children's drawings and handicrafts created by children of RKMC employees aged from 2 to 17. These works were a response to family stories about the war and an expression of gratitude for a peaceful sky. A total of 95 children took part in the creative competition, and nine young authors were awarded gifts. The youngest participant was four-year-old Mikhail Trunov, who made a model of a T-34 tank with his father.
Vyacheslav Shylo, chairman of the Belarusian Trade Union of Health Workers, took part in the opening ceremony, noting the important role of labor collectives in preserving historical memory:
"The common memory is formed from small information streams. It is important that the memory of the war is preserved and passed on to future generations".
The exhibitions were not only a part of the anniversary program, but also a continuation of the patriotic work that the RCMC staff conducts every year. For example, the staff of the center maintains order at the monument to the sanitary battalion in the village of Podgorie, and young people willingly take part in the improvement of memorable places.
The exhibitions will be open until May 16, 2025. We invite everyone to visit the expositions, feel the history and express gratitude to those who brought the Victory closer.
